Myrmecia nigriscapa - Ant's journal
Hello everyone,
I wanted to start this journal to document the progress of my Myrmecia nigriscapa queen, which I received about two weeks ago.

The queen spent an entire week in transit, but apart from eating her brood during shipping, she arrived in surprisingly good condition. She’s very active during the late evening and early morning hours, quite typical for Myrmecia.

On the day she arrived, she immediately devoured a whole cricket and laid her first egg the very next day.

Over the following days, more eggs appeared, and now the first larva has finally hatched!

Her protein intake has been quite low lately, which makes sense given that she only had eggs for a while and didn’t need much food. Now that larvae are present, I expect her appetite to increase again soon.

Please post questions and suggestions here.

Re: Myrmecia nigriscapa - Ant's journal
The development of this species is progressing extremely quickly, much faster than in my other Myrmecia colonies. The queen appears to be in excellent health, brings in food almost every day, and behaves very aggressively toward prey or even toward me when she watches me through the foraging area.

This picture is from a week ago.

These are from yesterday. The colony already has pupae after only one month.
