Journal of Myrmecia gulosa, which I received a few days ago. The colony consists of two workers, one queen, and a few larvae. I keep them in a partially heated Esthetic Ants nest and an Antstore outworld. They do not take in much protein yet, but occasionally a cricket is carried inside. Cut crickets seem to be accepted better than whole ones.
When I connected the test tube to the new nest, I wasn’t fast enough and was immediately chased by one of the workers, which I then had to catch again. Quite aggressive little ones! Please post questions and suggestions here.

If you look closely at this picture, you can spot a few mites on the queens mandibles. Predatory mites (Hypoaspis miles) have been ordered. The nest is no longer being moistened or heated. Wish me luck

I took these pictures a week ago - the mites seem to have completely disappeared without me ever having to introduce predatory mites. A week of dryness and cooler temperatures seems to have been enough.
Now, another week later, after I’ve started heating and moistening the nest again, no new mites appear to have returned. The larvae are growing wonderfully and are now almost the size of a worker.

One of the larvae, unfortunately, didn’t make it and ended up becoming food for her sister.
Just a couple of days later, the surviving larva began spinning her cocoon and completed it successfully.
